Architecture

C.J. Lawler Associates follows the ancient Roman architect Vitruvius’s declaration that architecture should create environments that provide “firmness, commodity and delight”. We provide designs for buildings that are enduring, effective, and beautiful.

Jim Lawler FAIA, the firm’s principal architect, was awarded the prestigious 2003 AIA Kemper Award for service to the profession. He was president of the American Institute of Architects in 1991, and served as Chancellor to the AIA College of Fellows in 1992. He is a past member of the National Architectural Accreditation Board, and he was the only architect on the National Committee for Standards in the Arts for K-12 education. Locally, he has served on the State of Connecticut Advisory Panel on Asbestos Regulation and the State School Facilities Unit panel for Standards in Technology.

The firm has been stable and has weathered many economic up and downturns. We have been fortunate to have many of the same personnel working with the firm throughout our history.

Since inception, this practice has focused specifically on public facilities throughout Connecticut.
